A woman was left hanging when her parasailing line snapped, leaving her drifting in the air in Mexico for 45 minutes before crash landing at an airport nearly two miles away, CNN reported.

She survived the ordeal but sustained multiple injuries that included a collapsed lung, broken pelvis and ribs and a massive blow to the face.

She crash-landed right by an alligator, and emergency officials had to chase the creature away before they could rescue her.

It sounds like the trip from hell but Katie Malone was unaware when she strapped herself into a parasail to celebrate her 29th birthday on June 9 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Within minutes of setting off, the line connecting her to the boat had snapped, and the wind whipped her in the opposite direction.

Her last thoughts before passing out 20 minutes into her harrowing experience were, "Please don’t let me die, please don’t let me be paralyzed," her father Kelly Malone told KSWB.

Katie Malone did not have travel insurance and had to crowdfund the cost of her initial operations.

Kelly Malone said his daughter's major head trauma needed to be treated by a U.S. specialist, KSWB noted.

Former Congressman Duncan L. Hunter assisted with financial arrangements to ensure Katie Malone was flown back to the U.S. Once she had landed, she was transferred to UC San Diego Medical Center.

CNN reported that Katie Malone has undergone three surgeries and, although she remains in hospital, her family said she is doing well.

Her brother, Brendan Malone, said his sister was a real champion.

"Throughout her stay, the doctors and nurses kept asking her what her pain level was -- and she would say 8-10," he told CNN. "When she was ready to get in the ambulance (to start her journey back to the U.S.), the doctors and nurses kept asking her about her pain level. She said she didn't feel any pain at all."
