Woman: Carjacker 'Messed With Wrong Witch'; She Runs Him Down With Car

By    |   Monday, 17 June 2013 06:18 PM EDT

A Texas woman reportedly punched a would-be carjacker in the face, took a knife away from him and then hit him with her car after he threatened her and her two children.

Dorothy Baker-Flugence was driving away from a Baytown, Texas, CVS when a man reportedly came out of the backseat with a knife, holding it on her son.

The suspect, later identified as Ismael Martinez, allegedly demanded $200.

The Houston Chronicle reported that Flugence struggled with the man, eventually getting the knife away from him, although she was cut across her chest and bitten during the fight.

Flugence did all this while driving, according to a report by ABC 13.

Then, in an attempt to confuse the carjacker, she reportedly drove all over the road, speeding toward a telephone pole. After she hit the pole, she allegedly punched him in the face and, when Martinez jumped out of the car to run away, she purportedly ran him down.

Flugence told police she didn’t want to seriously injure him, but she wanted to make sure he didn’t hurt anyone else. Martinez was life-flighted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.

“You don’t come after people with kids,” Flugence told ABC News. “I told (Martinez) he messed with the wrong witch.

Flugence’s two young children, ages 5 and 2, were in the backseat with Martinez during the incident. Both children were fine, and Flugence’s injuries were minor.

The NY Daily News reported that people back at the CVS store cheered for the mom when they heard what happened.

Her husband, Charles Flugence, proudly praised his wife. “She’s a tough one,” he said. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Fox Radio tweeted the story with the hashtag “TexasJustice,” others touted Flugence as a hero, and Texas pride came out in full color:
