Winter Storm Quinn will bring snowfall and more heavy winds this week to an already storm ravaged Northeast that suffered widespread power outages and tree damage from a powerful nor'easter just days earlier.

According to The Weather Channel, Quinn dumped heavy snow on the Mountain West last week before slamming into the northern Plains and Upper Midwest Monday.

The storm should hit the Northeast by Wednesday and could bring with it heavy snow, fierce winds and coastal flooding that could cause power outages and downed trees.

There is also a chance that coastline areas could also see significant snowfall, Newsweek noted.

"For most people in the Northeast, especially in New England and the coastal mid-Atlantic, this will be a more typical winter storm or nor'easter," according to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski. "The big problem is that the storm this week is coming so soon after the destructive storm from last Friday. It will disrupt cleanup and restoration operations and is likely to cause a new but less extreme round of travel delays, power outages and damage from falling trees."

The National Weather Service has issued winter storm warnings for eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey through to the Hudson Valley of New York and much of New England.

AccuWeather forecast accumulating snow for parts of Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York City and Boston, with heavy snowfall expected to span from northern Delaware to southeastern Pennsylvania, metro New York City, central Connecticut and central Massachusetts.

Sosnowski noted that the conditions would cause widespread travel disruptions.

"Airline passengers should expect a new round of flight delays and cancellations in the Northeast with some ripple-effect delays elsewhere in the nation," Sosnowski said.
