Winter Storm Lexi brought snow and related hassles to areas from the coastal mid-Atlantic into southern and eastern New England on Friday.
The storm frustrated commuters and caused the cancellation of hundreds of flights in
New York and Boston, The Weather Channel reported.
Storm warnings and weather advisories led to public school closings in Boston and other areas, and snow plows were out in force.
Thousands of residents in Connecticut and Rhode Island experienced power outages.
Areas of Massachusetts saw up to 10 inches of snow, and New York snowfall totals reached as
high as eight inches, the Daily Mail reported.
The snow followed heavy rains and flooding in some areas.
The storm, which The Weather Channel described as a “quick-hitting stripe of snow,” likely will
usher in more winter weather in the East and South during the coming week.
Twitter users tracked the storm and commented on its name.
