Will Ferrell returned to "SNL" over the weekend to reprise his George W. Bush character and poke fun at many of the Republican presidential candidates for the show's cold open.

Ferrell, the former "Saturday Night Live" regular who parlayed his success into a blockbuster movie career, recreated his impersonation of the two-term 43rd president by announcing that he is throwing his hat in the ring for the job again in 2016.

A YouTube clip of the "SNL" segment has been viewed 1.9 million times as of Monday morning.

"The field of Republicans out there is so messed up, I figured it makes you miss me, doesn't it?" Ferrell said as Bush, before launching into his critique of some of the candidates.

"I can barely hear him when he talks," he said of Dr. Ben Carson. "That's not gonna work when you have to go to China . . . where you have to talk loudly so they can understand."

Meanwhile, U.S. senators Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz sound more like a Miami law firm than presidential candidates, Ferrell's Bush said.

"If you've been injured on the job, call Rubio & Cruz. These two guys, the son of immigrants, hate immigrants."

In commenting on Republican frontrunner Donald Trump, Ferrell went after the real estate mogul's looks.

"Whenever I get in a bad mood, I just picture his big, fat, orange Oompa Loompa face and I just p*** my pants," he said laughing.

And then he had this to say about brother Jeb Bush:

"You gotta admit, it's a pretty good plot twist that I turned out to be the smart one," he said. "I wish he would've asked me about the exclamation point at the end of his name. Look, I don't like the taste of broccoli, but it doesn't get any tastier if you call it 'Broccoli!'"

Ferrell then made his final campaign pitch as Bush.

"Running the government is kinda like driving a school bus: You don't want a crazy person driving that bus," he said. "You want a simple, underachieving, not-very-educated but reliable guy behind that wheel. Someone with a steady hand that will be on time, and get into one or two, but no more than four accidents a year. You already know that someone. That someone is me. I'll see you in the White House."

Ferrell will be starring opposite Mark Wahlberg in the upcoming Christmas-release movie "Daddy's Home," which is about a stepfather competing with his stepchildren's biological father for the kids' affection.
