The White House revealed this year’s Christmas decorations and the spectacular display directed by first lady Melania Trump pays respect to 200 years of holiday traditions there.

Melania Trump unveiled the massive display at a special ceremony hosted for members of the press and children from Joint Base Andrews on Monday, ABC News reported.

The White House said the decorations center around the “Time Honored Traditions" theme and feature 53 Christmas trees with over 12,000 ornaments, 18,000 feet of Christmas lights, 71 wreaths, and a 350-pound Gingerbread house.

According to The White House, the display would not be complete without the White House Crèche and this year the 18th century terra cotta and wood nativity scene is displayed in the East Room.

The vast Christmas display features a Gold Star Family Tree, which has been decorated with gold stars and patriotic ribbon, as well as china from President Ronald Reagan and President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s 1866 edition of “A Christmas Carol,” Time noted.

However, it’s the holiday "dessert" that has set tongues wagging.

Stephanie Grisham, director of communications for the first lady’s office, revealed on Twitter that this year’s gingerbread house, which will be placed in the State Dining Room, was baked with 300 pounds of dough.

Many of the rooms in the White House have been designed to have a strong Christmas feel but one chamber has been gaining attention for its somewhat creepy feel, the Huffington Post noted.

Grisham posted a photo of the chamber to Twitter but, instead of drawing festive cheer, the image caused sensation for its eerie look, garnering memes likening it to films such as “The Shining” and “It.”
