Wayne Allyn Root Among Conservative Stars Irking Bill Maher

Wayne Allyn Root got a shout-out of sorts from HBO’s Bill Maher on his show "Real Time" on Friday as the unabashed liberal host was doubling down on his comment about rooting for a recession to get rid of President Donald Trump.

"A recession is a survivable event; what Trump is doing to this country is not," Maher said while including Root in the conservative cast of characters who criticized him after the first Trump-recession go-around earlier this month. "Democracy is about to go the way of the dinosaurs because we've been taken over by a dodo bird. So let me repeat: recessions are survivable events. We survive one every time a Republican is in the White House, it's true."

Root, who hosts "The Wayne Allyn Root Show" on Newsmax TV, had ripped Maher in a commentary that appeared on June 13 in the Las Vegas Review-Journal after the first Trump putdown.

"Liberals such as Maher couldn't care less how many Americans lose their jobs and wind up on welfare or homeless," Root wrote. "Maher is worth upward of $100 million. He doesn't care if your life is ruined, if your kids starve. As long as Trump is defeated. That's today’s Democrat Party."

Along with Root, Maher on Friday mentioned Fox News' Laura Ingraham, "InfoWars" host Alex Jones, former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, and social media personality Mike Cernovich.

Root, billed as a true conservative media dynamo, brought his Las Vegas-based talk program to USA Radio Networks in 2017. He is a bestselling New York Times author, a former Libertarian presidential candidate who won the party's 2008 vice presidential nomination, and is known as a fierce, enthusiastic, and relentless defender of Reagan conservatism, libertarianism, and capitalism.

"The Wayne Allyn Root Show" airs weeknights at 8 p.m./ET on Newsmax TV, available on DirecTV Ch. 349, U-Verse 1220, DISH 216 and FiOS 615.

With compelling original shows such as "The Jesse Lee Peterson Show," "Newsmax Now," "America Talks Live," "The Wayne Allyn Root Show," "The Brett Winterble Show," "The Howie Carr Show," "The Joe Walsh Show," "The Joe Pags Show," and "The Schnitt Show," Newsmax TV has become the nation's must-watch news, lifestyle, and information channel.
