94-four-year-old Wally Richardson served in the Navy during World War II and was a fighter pilot in the Korean War, but these days he has a new gig dishing out valuable life lessons to students at Marina Village Middle School in California.

For many youths, their morning would not be complete without fist bumping Richardson, then listening to him impart invaluable wisdom before they head off to class, CBS News reported.

“Be kind whenever possible,” is a favorite line of his, to which they respond “it’s always possible.”

Richardson’s role of mentor happened by chance several years ago, during his daily walk.

He would briefly chat to the students as they were arriving for school and began sharing his valuable life lessons.

Fast forward to the present and the veteran has become a bit of a celebrity at the school.

One mother took to Facebook to praise Richardson.

Gina Michelle said she was driving her daughter Audrey to school one morning recently when she asked to be dropped off at the corner so she could talk to a “cute little old man.”

Gina Michelle said she was curious about the man, and when she pressed her daughter Audrey explained that “he stands at the steps where you drop me off and encourages all the students as they walk in. He talks about kindness and gives us advice and fist bumps.”

Audrey added that it was “the best part of the day.”
The mother said her heart nearly burst when she saw Richardson standing outside the school talking to the students.

“He’s like an angel, you can’t help but feel calm and peace when you go near him,” she said according to Inside Edition.
