A restaurant server has been fired from her job after writing a note on a police detective’s check telling him to quit his job.

Tired from working 12-hour shifts, the cop entered Happy Camper Pizza in Chicago on Sunday, hoping to enjoy a meal, but he ended up throwing away his order after discovering that his waitress had scrawled the words "Quit your job" on the receipt, according to CWB Chicago. The detective could not eat his meal out of concern that the disgruntled employee may have done something to his food.

It is unclear what prompted the snarky remark, but the following day, Happy Camper announced in a statement to Facebook that it had axed the server.

"Our company works incredibly hard to provide a positive and enjoyable experience for all customers. Upon learning this morning about an incident last night involving a customer, we immediately took action to terminate the employee," the post read.

"We sincerely and humbly apologize — the action of one does not accurately reflect who we are as a company. We have zero tolerance for any behavior that doesn’t give our customers the full respect they deserve."

In a comment, the restaurant added: "Please also know that Happy Camper has reached out to the police officer to personally apologize, offer a full refund and provide a gift card to his restaurant of choice. Thanks again to all of our customers for your understanding."

Customers were full of praise for the restaurant's swift action.

"Thank you for making your ex employee accountable for their actions and hopefully she will learn more respect to others," one Facebook user replied.

"It’s about time a business establishment had the guts and courage to stand up for what is right. Thank you for taking the high road! What a great example for all the us, especially during this extremely divisive time in our nation," another commented.

"Being in law enforcement is already a dangerous enough job!! We are grateful to these professionals and respect to the restaurant for doing what’s right," a third added.
