A Californian waitress has received over $78,000 in tips after she kicked out a tech CEO who was on a racist rant against other customers.
Three GoFundMe campaigns have been launched for Gennica Cochran, who works as a server at the Lucia Bar & Restaurant inside the Bernardus Lodge & Spa, after she faced up to Michael Lofthouse, the CEO of a tech company, who was angrily cursing an Asian family celebrating a birthday at the restaurant over the Fourth of July weekend, Fox Newsreported.
"Trump's gonna f*** you," Lofthouse said to the family sitting across from where he was dining. "You f***ers need to leave... f***ing Asian piece of s***."
Cochran immediately intervened.
"You need to leave right now. Get out, you are not allowed here, get out now,” she ordered Lofthouse. "You do not talk to our guests like that, they are valued guests, you are not allowed here ever again!"
Her bravery is paying off. As of Friday morning the largest GoFundMe campaign had raised over $60,930 while the other petitions have raised more than $17,652, according to Fox News.
Reliving the incident, Cochran told KGO TV on Wednesday that she felt compelled to step in and speak up for the family targeted by Lofthouse.
"I felt very protective of them. You don't come in here and say those kinds of things to people," she said. Especially people feel so raw coming out of quarantine. Most of these people this is the first time that they've been out to dinner and then you have someone attacking them. It was just no, no, I don't have time for this," Cochran continued.
"I did what anybody else should or would do in that situation.”
Lofthouse has since apologized for his actions.
