A man filming a Virgin Atlantic flight as it took off from New York's JFK Airport last month spotted an unidentified flying object, aka a UFO, in his footage, and soon set off the age-old debate about aliens when he shared it online.
"The UFO appears to be morphing as it flies far off into the background of the plane," wrote Rick from LookNowTV in the video's caption on YouTube. "Upon further inspection, this strange UFO appears to be expanding and retracting as it flies across the sky. What do you think? Hope you enjoy this mysterious UFO video!"
According to the Daily Mail, Rick received the video secondhand, from the aviation enthusiast who films planes quite often.
"I have no reason to believe this guy is a hoax. It's really unidentified," said Rick. "I shared it with my friends to get further opinions on it, and we could not come to a definitive conclusion on what the object might be so I decided to go with it and share it online."
The Huffington Post reported that Scott Waring at UFOSightingsDaily believes the flying object is extraterrestrial.
"Alien drones do investigate everything that flies, from planes to kites they shoot past to do a quick scan and satisfy their curiosity," he explained.
British UFO expert Russ Kellett, however, said he isn't so sure that the object is from beyond Earth.
"It seems to get narrower and wider as it's moving, it's hard to say. I always send footage to an expert to image enhancement as it looks good but unfortunately it could be anything," he said. "It comes behind from the aeroplane's tail, you can tell it's behind but it does move sort of like a bird, when something's moving when the wings are flapping. If it's moving away, it will give that appearance."
