Video Parodies Celebs for ‘Demand a Plan’ Anti-Gun Hypocrisy

After Hollywood celebrities appeared in an anti-gun public service announcement, a video on YouTube parodies the PSA and highlights the hypocrisy of many of the same big name stars.

The celebrities' video called on viewers to "demand a plan" to stop mass shootings. It featured numerous stars including Jamie Foxx, Will Farrell, Cameron Diaz, and Chris Rock chanting names of the places where the worst gun violence has taken place.

The response video posted on YouTube comes in both a graphic and cleaned up version. The sanitized version is titled "Demand a Plan? Demand Celebrities Go **** Themselves." Both videos feature the intense graphic gun violence that many of the same celebrities have participated in as part of television shows and movies.

The response video uses footage from the original PSA, dotted with violent shootings and death scenes in which Foxx, Farrell, Diaz, Rock, and others appear.

For example, when Foxx in the PSA recalls the Columbine massacre which killed real people, the parody video cuts to scenes of him pretending to kill people in several of his fictional action movies, including the recently released "Django Unchained."

About 500,000 viewers have watched the graphic version of the response video on YouTube, "Demand a Plan…," and more than 171,000 have viewed the cleaned up version.

In comments posted on the page containing the "Demand Celebrities" response video, many called the stars who spoke out against gun violence, yet starred in entertainment that featured the same, hypocrites.

The star-studded anti-gun PSA garnered an audience of more than 6 million people, who were asked to get in touch with their representatives in Congress and demand a ban on assault weapons, a ban on high capacity magazines, criminal background checks on all gun purchasers, and the making gun trafficking a federal crime.

The response video closes with the message: “Hollywood is a culture of violence.”
