Americans are dying at a much younger age than they were a few years ago, and a lot of this has to do with unhealthy lifestyles. One of the reasons why the average life expectancy in the U.S. has plummeted is because there is an increase in heart disease, cancer, stroke, and other related health issues, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported.

Many of these conditions are linked to poor health choices, which happens to be more common in certain parts of the country. An example of this lies in Gadsden, Alabama, which is among the unhealthiest cities in America.

Here, adults tend to be obese and more likely to smoke. These lifestyle choices contribute to the city's premature death rate, which is 563.3 deaths before age 75 for every 100,000 people annually, according to 24/7 Wall St.

The news outlet recently set out to rank the unhealthiest cities in America according to various health factors, including behaviors and access to care. Habits such as smoking and exercise as well as adult obesity rates, premature death rates, and health insurance coverage were all taken into account. The unhealthiest cities for each state were then ranked accordingly. We take a closer look at the results for some of these cities, ranked alphabetically by state:
