Uber CEO shortlist is reportedly down to six possible candidates, including Meg Whitman, CEO of Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co.

Two employees disclosed the information to Bloomberg after a staff meeting revealed the ride hailing company could see a new CEO nominated within a few weeks.

Whitman has reportedly been meeting with Uber’s leadership.

This follows the departure of Uber’s previous CEO, Travis Kalanick, who was allegedly pressured to resign by investors in June.

The company’s largest shareholders reportedly pressed for Kalanick to quit through a letter calling for him to step down, Reuters reported.

The company has seen its share of controversy and there has been some reshuffling of board members following allegations of sexual harassment and discrimination, which emerged earlier this year.

Investigations were launched after a former employee made claims of sexual harassment in the workplace, resulting in several other employees coming forth with other complaints.

The New York Times noted that, over the past few months, "Uber has fired more than 20 employees after an investigation into the company’s culture, embarked on major changes to professionalize its workplace."

In wake of the company’s tremulous history, critics have suggested that the nomination of a female CEO could boost Uber’s profile, Fortune noted.

Meanwhile, Whitman stepped down as chairwoman from HP’s board of directors on Wednesday.

According to CNBC, Whitman will remain CEO of HPE but will be replaced by Levi Strauss & Co. CEO, Chip Bergh, on the HP board.

It was reported that, although Whitman had allegedly been counselling with management of Uber, sources close to her believe the business woman did not intend to take up the position.

CNBC quoted an HP rep, who said, "As Meg has said several times before, she is fully committed to HPE and plans to stay with the company until her work is done."
