Former President Donald Trump was a massive presence on Twitter but was known more for his tweets than who he was following. Now his successor President Joe Biden has generated his first Twitter headline. It’s no secret that liberal Hollywood supports Biden and the first celebrity he has chosen to follow on Twitter is Chrissy Teigen.

The model, who was blocked by Trump for being an outspoken critic of his, posted a tweet asking Biden to follow her on the social media platform.

"Hello @joebiden I have been blocked by the president for four years can I get a follow plz," Teigen tweeted.

It was not long before Biden hit the follow button.

"My heart oh my god lmao I can finally see the president’s tweets and they probably won’t be unhinged," Teigen tweeted upon learning of her new follower.

As of Thursday, the @POTUS account was only following 13 people. Of those, 12 were government officials, and the other was Teigen.

Teigen and her family traveled to Washington, D.C., to support her husband John Legend, who performed at the presidential inauguration on Wednesday. She documented the trip on social media but drew widespread backlash for being out and about amid the coronavirus pandemic.

"I love you guys but ye are missing the point so massively on this. Global pandemic you know..... widespread pain and suffering around people not being able to travel to see family and ye are just rocking around like no problem. Get ye are tested etc but it's harsh," one follower replied.

"Happy for John being asked to perform, but the excitement of travel and experiencing something new is hard on some of us," another tweeted. "I live on an island, unable to travel and will now miss my girls graduations from Uni in the USA due to COVID restrictions and a loss of our income."

Teigen jumped to defend herself.

"For f---s sake why are you guys always always mad at me, all I wanna do is make you happy or at least leave you with a neutral feeling of indifference," she wrote.

"This is not my fault but I’m sorry you’re frustrated. I just like to share what we are up to and whatnot," Teigen added in response to another user who tweeted about how unhappy people were at the moment because they "can’t even 'happy pack' their cars to drive to the grocery store" as COVID-19 continues to spread.
