President Donald Trump's "supersonic golf cart" made waves at his Westchester golf club because it reportedly moved twice as fast as others so that, according to sources, he could "play through" everyone. An aide said, however, he just wanted a fast way to greet all his guests.

Years before Trump took over as golfer-in-chief from Barack Obama, he used the special cart at the Trump National Golf Club Westchester in Briarcliff, New York, sources told the New York Post.

"This is correct, but the members love it," one Trump insider told the Post. "He has great respect for them, and if they objected, he would never do it. One of the things he likes to do, when and if he plays through, is to make sure to greet the members as he passes. They really enjoy the banter, as does Mr. Trump."

The Post couldn't confirm if Trump was still using the souped-up golf cart to zip around his golf courses.

CNN reported last month that the president was caught on video breaking one of the cardinal rules of golf: keep the golf cart off the green. The incident happened over the June 10-11 weekend while Trump was at his Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

White House aides declined to say whether Trump was playing golf that weekend.

Bedminster is the site of the U.S. Women's Open from July 10-16 and the USGA wants everyone to know it has nothing to do with politics.

"Let me make it very clear, that when we came here, it was all about coming to a great golf course playing the greatest championship in women's golf," USGA executive director Mike Davis said in May, according to Philly.com.

"The USGA, since its founding in 1894, has never been involved with politics. Our focus is solely on the game of golf. We appreciate that there's some out there that want to make this a political event. We're not," Davis added.
