'True Tori' Star Dean McDermott Admits Thinking About Suicide

"True Tori" co-star and villain Dean McDermott told gossip site Access Hollywood Live in a revealing interview on Wednesday that he has thought about suicide, that he plans on leaving the reality show, and that he wants to preserve his marriage with Tori Spelling.

McDermott, 47, described his time on the reality TV series as like "opening a vein" every episode and "sharing my feeling and thoughts and demons with the world" – and he has had enough of it.

"I'm not going to continue with the show," McDermott said. "We have five more shows left… I can't do this anymore."

McDermott told Access Hollywood the pressure of doing the show and the affair put him in a "dark place" where he had thoughts of suicide and he does not want to have those feelings again.

"From the affair, from doing the show… I almost lost everything, everything that means anything to me," said McDermott. "I don't want to ever do that again. I don't ever want to be in that dark place again where I wanted to take my life… I was driving around in my truck with a loaded 9 mm. I was put on a 5150 at the UCLA psych ward. (My son) Liam had a performance and I didn't want to miss that performance… I had plans that night to do it."

This is the second season of "True Tori" on Lifetime. The first season dealt with the Spelling and McDermott struggling to keep their marriage together after McDermott was involved in a cheating scandal after traveling back and forth from Canada for a film project, according Radar Online. At the time of taping the first series, there reportedly were issues with the couple's oldest son, a source told the website.

"It's bad enough Tori decided to do the reality show as she was trying to repair the marriage, but to include the kids was not wise," a source told Radar Online. "In recent days, Tori told her close friends Liam was having major issues with appearing on camera, and that she had to bribe him with toys and candy."

McDermott told Access Hollywood that he is sober and believes his marriage is on the upswing.

"I'm on the right medication. Things are looking up right now," said McDermott. "They're good, today."
