Comedian Tracy Morgan and his wife Megan Wollover are getting divorced. The couple tied the knot in 2015, months after Morgan was involved in a life-threatening highway crash, but despite all they have been through, they have decided to part ways.
"Sadly, after nearly five years of marriage, Megan and I are filing for divorce. This is a challenging time for all involved, so I ask that you please respect our privacy," Morgan said in a statement on Wednesday to People.
A representative for Wollover confirmed that she had filed for divorce on Tuesday.
"This is a private matter for the family. Megan's primary focus remains the best interest of the parties’ daughter. She asks that the family’s privacy be respected during this difficult time," the representative said.
Morgan revealed his engagement to Wollover in September 2011 on the Emmys red carpet. Two years later the comedian-actor was left fighting for his life after a Walmart truck slammed into a limo van that was carrying Morgan and several friends on their way back from a show in Delaware. One person was killed, and three others were injured, two seriously. Morgan spent several weeks in a hospital and in rehab.
After fourteen excruciating months, Morgan wed Wollover in an intimate ceremony.
"After almost losing Tracy last year, I am so grateful to finally be married to the love of my life," Wollover said at the time, according to People. "We have been through so much and our love is stronger for it."
Morgan and Wollover share one daughter together — 7-year-old Maven Sonae. Morgan also shares two adult sons with ex-wife Sabina Morgan.
