"Dukes of Hazzard" actor Tom Wopat has reportedly been charged with allegedly sexually assaulting an underage actor during rehearsal for a play in Waltham, Massachusetts.
The charge marks the second time Wopat, 66, has been accused of indecent conduct with fellow actors of a play he was scheduled to appear in there in August. The actor, who played Luke Duke from 1979 to 1985 on the hit primetime show on CBS, was originally scheduled to appear in court Tuesday for a pre-trial conference, but that was moved to Oct. 24, Waltham Patch reported.
Wopat was charged with indecent assault and battery after being accused of striking a teenage girl on her buttocks with a rehearsal script, and for "annoying and accosting" her, Wicked Local Waltham reported.
The actor was originally arrested Aug. 2, the day before he was set to appear in the Regal Music Theatre's production of "42nd Street," reported Wicked Local.
In the first complaint, a female cast member charged Wopat grabbed her buttock during rehearsals and she filed a harassment protection order against him, according to Wicked Local. He also was charged with cocaine possession after an officer allegedly found a bag of white powder in his vehicle, the website stated.
According to The Boston Herald, Wopat initially entered a not guilty plea to indecent assault and battery and drug possession on Aug. 3.
In the new charges, the teenager told police Wopat hit her on the rear end with a script and told her "nice butt," according to Waltham Patch. Another actor reportedly told authorities he told Wopat to stop flirting with the teenager, but he persisted.
According to his Billboard magazine biography, Wopat has been working acting jobs in Los Angeles and traveling to Nashville to write and record songs since 1987. He appeared in the touring production of "Annie Get Your Gun" and released the standards album "The Still of the Night" in 2000.
