News that Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson have tested positive for the coronavirus has spurred reactions from Hollywood's top stars.
Hanks revealed the news on Wednesday, explaining that he and Wilson had been diagnosed in Australia and would be isolated "for as long as public health and safety requires." Since then, well wishes from the rich and famous have been flooding social media.
Among them was Tim Allen, who worked alongside Hanks to provide the voices of Buzz Lightyear and Woody in the "Toy Story" films. Allen referenced their characters in a lighthearted post to Twitter.
"Woody, I should have made you two wear my space suits! You and Rita rest and get well!." he replied to Hanks' announcement on Twitter.
Actress and comedian Julia Louis-Dreyfus also declared her support to the couple on Twitter.
"Love and get well soon and come home soon to you and @RitaWilson" she wrote in a post.
"Scary Movie" actor Marlon Wayans posted a humorous comment in reply to the couple's announcement on Instagram.
"DAMN YOU TOM!!! You always gotta be first. First Emmy winner, first Oscar winner, first Hollywood Coronavirus," he wrote. "That one was mine damn it! Curses. get well soon brother. I love you tremendously. Praying for you and wifey. Always my nizzle."
"Please take care," added Reese Witherspoon.
Hanks and Wilson were diagnosed after experiencing "some body aches," "chills" and "slight fevers."
"To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive," the "Forrest Gump" actor explained on Instagram. "Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?," he continued, promising to keep fans "posted and updated."
