It's the 105th anniversary of the Titanic sinking into the ocean, and people around the world are marking the anniversary with continued fascination in the historic voyage.

More than 100 relatives of passengers on the ship gathered this week in Belfast to mark the anniversary of the tragedy that took the lives of more than 1,500 people when the ship sank on April 15, 1912.

The event, which took two years to organize, took place at Belfast's Titanic Centre, near where the ship was built.

"I think the importance of this type of gathering is in that it is easy to forget that there were those who lost their lives," Simon Medhurst, the event organizer and a collector of Titanic memorabilia said, according to BBC News.

It also offered a chance to examine memorabilia from the Titanic, including a purse that was carried on the voyage and handed down through generations to a family member who attended the event.

In another event marking the anniversary, the Smithsonian channel will present "Titanic's Fatal Fire" on April 15. In the show, author and researcher Senan Molony examines photos that might indicate that a fire onboard the ship contributed to its demise, USA Today noted. The photos were brought to an auction house in 2012 by a descendant of Titanic’s chief electrical engineer, John Kempster.

Here, we take a look at some of the other items found among the Titanic wreckage and their value at auction.
