Tim Tebow Keeps Training for Return as NFL Quarterback

By    |   Tuesday, 03 June 2014 10:15 AM EDT

Former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow may be making speaking tours for his new gig with the SEC Network, but he's also still working out and dreaming of connecting with an NFL team as their quarterback.

Tebow was in Nashville to talk up the SEC network at the Music City Sports Festival when the conversation turned to his playing days, according to The Tennessean, which reported that the former University of Florida star worked out at the D-1 Training facility in Cool Springs in May while some receivers from Nashville's indoor league team ran pass routes for him over a two-day stretch.

"I'm training every day and feel like I'm the best that I've ever been," said Tebow. "I still love it, love playing, talking about it, and I'm just excited about whatever the future holds. Who knows what could happen? But I'm excited about it, though."

Tebow hasn't played with an NFL team since was cut by the New England Patriots at the end of preseason. He was a backup with the New York Jets in 2012 and played in Denver in 2010 and 2011, where he led the Broncos to a playoff win his last season there.

Tebow's college coach Urban Meyer said in March that he believes his former player still has a burning desire to play quarterback in the NFL.

"You'd imagine how he works," Meyer said of Tebow who won the Heisman Trophy in 2007. "(He) works every day. He's hoping. There are some conversations about it. I don't know too much. There's hope and he says there's stuff going on."

During his stint in the NFL, Tebow had a career quarterback rating of 75.3, completing 47.9 percent of his passes (173-361) for 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

ESPN hired Tebow in December as an analyst for "SEC Nation," a traveling football pregame show that broadcast from different SEC campuses, said the network. ESPN said Tebow will also appear on ESPN's "SportsCenter," ESPN radio and other coverage.
