Tim Tebow says Patriots coach Bill Belichick advised against a $1 million endorsement deal mere weeks before cutting Tebow from the New England team in 2013, the last time the Heisman winner was seen in an NFL uniform.

In 2013, the Patriots signed Tebow as a backup quarterback but he didn't make it past preseason.

Now, Tebow is recounting the $1 million endorsement discussion involving his former coach. Belichick has been highly successful in his illustrious career, winning four Super Bowl titles in the NFL.

According to The Score, Tebow claims Belichick advised him “not to take a one-day, $1-million endorsement offer.”

A few weeks later, Tebow was cut from the team.

Tebow gave an account of the situation in his upcoming book, “Shaken.”

“I remembered when I had signed with the team in June. ... I’d had an offer on the table to make a one-day appearance endorsing a product for a million-dollar paycheck. I’m sure you’d agree that a million bucks is a lot to make in just 24 hours. But I wasn’t quick to say yes,” the book notes.

“So when the offer for the one-day commercial turned up, I was sure to discuss the opportunity with him. ‘I want to know what you think, Coach,’ I said. ‘I respect you and I want to fit in. I want to be one of the guys. Should I do it?’” the passage continues.

“He thought for a moment and then shook his head. ‘Timmy, I would really appreciate it if you didn’t.’ Highly respecting the man, I turned down the deal. I didn’t even think twice about it. I wanted the chance to impress Coach Belichick more than I wanted the money. I’ll say that if I were on any other team, I would have probably said yes to the offer. But the thoughts he offered in our initial conversation mattered to me — even more than a million dollars,” the biography noted.

“It’s not the right fit,” Coach Belichick said, at the time.

In an interview with "Fox and Friends" on Monday, Tebow said he asked Belichick about the endorsement so that he wouldn’t be a “distraction” to the team.

According to Bleacher Report, Tebow didn’t expect to be released from the Patriots that year. He went into the situation with high expectations, which is what really upset him when he was cut just before the start of the 2013-14 regular season.
