A Texas couple was shot dead on Sunday morning right in front of their children, and now a family doctor has been charged with capital murder in relation to their deaths, according to the San Antonio Express-News.

Dr. Robert E. Fadal II, 56, of Seguin, Texas, is being held on $2 million bond in the Guadalupe  County Jail on two counts of capital murder, People magazine reported.

Tiffany Leann Strait, 30, and Anthony Ray Strait, 27, were reportedly helping Fadal's mother move furniture at her home just north of Seguin when the incident occurred.

Guadalupe County Sheriff's investigator Lt. Craig Jones told the Seguin Gazette that Fadal allegedly used a rifle to fatally shoot the couple around 11:45 a.m. Authorities told the newspaper that Anthony Strait died at the scene and Tiffany Strait died later after emergency personnel transported her to the Guadalupe Regional Medical Center.

The couple's three children, who range in age from 7 to 10, were reportedly present when their parents were shot dead, according to People.

"At this time, there are no indications there was a feud, disturbance, or anything precipitating or justifying the shooting," Jones told the Gazette. "There is no indication that there was a dispute between the victims and suspect. We're still working to understand why this took place."

"He was a good man," Anthony Strait's brother, James Strait, told News4SA.com. "He didn't deserve this. I just want to know why . . . I hope he gets the same thing he gave my brother. He helped me all the time, and I helped him, we did things together, grew up together. He was my brother."

Jones told the Gazette that deputies have responded to Fadal properties in the past but did not believe those incidents were connected to Sunday’s shooting.

The Express-News wrote that, according to public records online, Fadal was listed as a family practice physician who graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
