The Tesla Model X is nearing delivery to early "Signature Model" reservation holders and a Tuesday preview revealed the electric vehicle delivers a serious sticker shock – $132,000 to $144,000, depending on added bells and whistles – and "Ludicrous Speed."

The Signature Model X will have a range of 240 miles and will be able to go from zero to 60 in 3.8 seconds while reaching a top speed of 155 miles per hour, according to InsideEVs.com.

"A new Signature series Model X will set owners back anywhere from $132,000 … to $144,000," wrote InsideEVs' Jay Cole. "A Signature Model X required a $40,000 deposit, as opposed to a $5,000 security for a 'regular' X."

Bloomberg noted that Signature reservation holders have been posting screens shots of their Model X dashboard configurations. Tesla said on Tuesday that reservation holders were now able to make individual choices like paint color and add features like a "Ludicrous Speed Upgrade," at $10,000, a possible reference to the 1987 sci-fi parody "Spaceballs."

The "Ludicrous Speed" option will get the Signature Model X zero to 60 speed down to 3.2 seconds, noted Autoblog.com.

"This is an important step for Tesla to show it's not a one-trick show when it comes to developing a car from start to finish," Ben Kallo, an analyst with Robert W. Baird & Co., told Bloomberg. "It will also be great for brand awareness to have two cars on the road. Good to see there will be a ski and bike rack hitch solution as well as sensors to allow the falcon wing doors to open in garages."

Bloomberg said the Signature edition will come with a 90 kilowatt-hour battery that will allow it to travel 240 miles on one charge.

It also comes with standard all-wheel-drive, "falcon wing" rear doors with built-in sensors for opening in garages of any height, parking sensors and blind-spot warning, automatic emergency braking and power-folding, heated side mirrors.

The Signature series will also carry autopilot features like self-parking, air suspension, satellite radio, ventilated leather seats with heating and cooling, three independently operable, adult-size second-row seats, and a flat-folding, two-adult third-row seat.
