Teresa Giudice, the currently incarcerated star of Bravo's "Real Housewives of New Jersey," revealed that she once "got shaken down" at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut.
Giudice, who's serving a 15-month sentence for fraud, made the comment to husband Joe Giudice during a telephone call that aired this week in part one of Bravo's three-part
"Teresa Checks In" special, according to Us Weekly.
The shakedown was reportedly sparked by a tweet that Giudice's 14-year-old daughter Gia posted on her official account in June.
Thought she has unlimited email access and 300 minutes of phone time a month, Giudice does not have Internet access in prison so the tweet raised some eyebrows.
"I got shaken down," Teresa Giudice told her husband on Sunday's episode of "Teresa Checks In," adding that the guards searched her physically in an attempt to find an unauthorized cellphone.
After Giudice completes her prison sentence in December, her husband will then begin his own 41-month bid for
fraud charges, according to People magazine. A judge granted the couple staggered sentences so one parent could be home to take care of their four daughters — Gia, 14; Gabriella, 10; Milania, 8; and Audriana, 6.
Not officially a U.S. citizen, Joe Giudice will then face deportation to Italy after his term is completed.
