A Texas man who terrorized Taylor Swift's record label with letters demanding to meet the pop icon and threatening violence has been sentenced to 30 months in prison.

Eric Swarbrick was handed the sentence, which includes three years of supervised release, on Wednesday in Nashville, after he pled guilty. The terms of the sentence were agreed upon by prosecutors in a plea agreement Swarbrick entered in 2019, according to court records cited by Forbes.

Since 2018, Swarbrick has sent over 40 letters and emails to the CEO of Big Machine Records, Scott Borchetta, asking to be introduced to Swift. He personally delivered letters to the label on three occasions, each time driving from his home in Austin, Texas, to Tennessee.

Swarbrick was arrested on Aug. 2 after he was found wandering the halls of Big Machine, but continued to harass Borchetta upon his release. The letters grew increasingly violent in nature, with Swarbrick threatening to kill himself in front of the CEO and expressing his desire to rape Swift, Forbes noted.

Swift has had several stalkers over the years and has become increasingly concerned about her safety. In a 2019 essay for Elle, the "Cardigan" hitmaker spoke of her worries.

"My fear of violence has continued into my personal life. I carry QuikClot army grade bandage dressing, which is for gunshot or stab wounds," she wrote. "Websites and tabloids have taken it upon themselves to post every home address I’ve ever had online. You get enough stalkers trying to break into your house and you kind of start prepping for bad things."
