The Switzerland chainsaw attacker manhunt has gone international after worried authorities were forced to expand their search for 50-year-old Franz Wrousis on Tuesday.
The BBC said an international arrest warrant was issued for Wrousis following his rampage in Schaffhausen on Monday morning when he injured five people while wielding a chainsaw.
He's still on the loose, his chainsaw probably still with him, police believe. They warned he should be considered dangerous and they urged the public to avoid approaching him.
Photos of Wrousis were widely distributed. Here, he's pictured by police and likely carrying his chainsaw in the long bag:
According to police reports, Wrousis walked into an insurance company carrying the chainsaw, and attacked two employees.
He might have been a customer, police said.
Although no motive for the attack has been given, authorities dismissed claims it was a terrorist attack.
Schaffhausen police said “two customers, who were also on the premises of the insurance company, suffered shock and a fifth person was slightly injured.”
Police arrived outside the business to find Wrousis gone.
Four of the injured were discharged but a fifth remained hospitalized with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The search for Wrousis immediately focused on surrounding woods, later expanded to other areas of the town, and then crossed the nearby German border.
