Susan Sarandon was arrested Thursday as part of an immigration protest in Washington, D.C., the actress and activist said on Twitter.

Sarandon was among hundreds participating in a protest against the Trump administration’s border policies that separated children from their parents when they crossed the border illegally.

Five hundred seventy-five protesters were arrested and removed from the sit-in at the Hart Senate Office Building, including Sarandon and House Democrat Pramila Jayapal. They were charged with unlawfully demonstrating and then released after being processed at the scene.

Three hours after tweeting her arrest, Sarandon again tweeted about the protest, calling it “powerful, beautiful action” and saying, “this is what Democracy looks like.”

While some supported Sarandon’s actions, others pointed out that she had spoken out against Hillary Clinton before the election and may be partly responsible for Trump’s being in office in the first place.
