Steve Aoki Sued: Crowd Surfing DJ Broke Her Neck, Fan Claims

Steve Aoki is being sued by a fan who claims the well-known DJ jumped off stage onto a pool raft she was under during a 2012 concert at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego, breaking her neck and ankle.

Entertainment Weekly said Brittany Hickman first filed the lawsuit in August 2013 over the May 2012 incident in which Aoki, known for his wild antics, leaped off the stage into the audience to crowd surf on the pool raft.

"He threw a pool raft into the crowd and climbed up the scaffolding to the top of the make-shift stage and then he jumped off of the stage into the pool raft," Hickman told KGTV about the 2012 concert. "I was trapped underneath the pool raft because they threw it out right where I was standing. My friends told me he landed on top of the pool raft, hit me on top of the head and I got knocked over."

"They said I was laying on the ground for a moment and I didn't get up," Hickman added. "I came to when one of the people working for the Hard Rock was wrapping my ankle."

Aoki, who Billboard magazine wrote in 2014 earns upwards of $11 million a year, issued a statement from his attorney Monday about the lawsuit.

"I would never want anyone to get hurt at any of my shows and feel badly that someone has, but at this time I have been advised by my attorneys to not speak about this as it's going to trial. Thank you for your understanding," said Aoki, per KGTV.

KGTV said Aoki released his latest album "Neon Future II" on May 13.
