Starbucks' ban on rings with stones, one of the coffee chain's many dress code policies, has some employees peeved.

"Here's the fine print — wearing a ring is okay if it’s a plain band, no stones," the dress code reads. "Unfortunately, no watches, bracelets, or wristbands are allowed. Simple necklaces can be worn under your clothes."

Starbucks told KOMO-TV that it plans on doubling its food menu in the next five years and the new guidelines are based on Food and Drug Administration food safety guidelines.

"Starbucks' new jewelry guidelines are based on the FDA Model Food Code that state and local jurisdictions follow," a spokesperson said in a statement. "We've also been working with Registered Environmental Health Specialists who are former FDA health inspectors to ensure these changes align with food safety rules."

Starbucks was already under fire from some of its employees after a new policy regarding tattoos was established over the summer in which baristas were told to cover up any body art. That rule has since been changed, and employees now are simply prohibited from having any facial or throat tattoos.

The irked workers have taken to social media to protest the strict jewelry restrictions using the hashtag #boycottstarbucks.
