A video of drummer Stan Saxon falling out of a window during a set at Nashville's famed Robert's Western World has gone viral with nearly140,000 views on YouTube since being posted on Friday.
Saxon, drummer of the popular country music group Don Kelley Band, flipped backward and through a plate-glass window while the band was in the midst of a rousing rendition of Johnny Cash's
"Ghost Riders in the Sky" Friday night, The Tennessean reported.
"The guy landed on me and another couple with his snare drum on the sidewalk,"
Patrick Harrigan told the blog SavingCountryMusic.com, adding that he was just walking by when the accident happened. "Broken glass everywhere. Crazy."
The Tennessean reported that not only was Saxon fine, but he returned to Robert's Western World and continued playing with the band. The music venue boarded up the front window in time for the band's return engagement Saturday night, according to the newspaper.
"[Saxon] probably pulled off one of the most awesome finishes in the history of Lower Broadway," wrote SavingCountryMusic.com.
Nashville musician Robert Smith posted on Facebook that Saxon actually broke a rib in the fall but, after leaving the Don Kelley band, he went to another bar and played four more hours with another band.
"He is a pro dedicated to his art," Smith wrote on Facebook. "The new hero of Nashville."
Others on social media said that they were impressed with Saxon's dedication to play on after the incident.
