Actress Sophia Myles lost her father to COVID-19. The "Transformers" star has been chronicling Peter Myles' deterioration in a series of posts posted to social media and on Saturday, she tweeted the final announcement.
"RIP Peter Myles," she wrote. "My dear Dad died only a few hours ago. It was the Corona Virus that finally took him."
Earlier that day, Sophia shared a photo of her 67-year-old father lying in a hospital bed, wearing an oxygen mask. She wore an apron, surgical gloves, and a facemask.
"Yesterday I went on a journey to see my father. This is the harsh reality of the Coronavirus," she wrote to Twitter.
The actress also posted an old photo of her father, brother, and herself to Twitter.
"My father, my brother and I. A nice memory to share given what Dad is going through now," she wrote.
Sophia had braced herself for the death of her father, who was suffering from other health conditions when she revealed on March 14 that he had caught the coronavirus.
"I went the other day fully prepared to watch him die," she said earlier in an interview with CBS. She added that "under the surface," the medical professionals "are absolutely freaking out."
"I don't know how our medical system is going to be able to handle the influx of patients," she added.
