A former soccer coach from a Florida high school is believed to be with a 17-year-old student who was reported missing after she escaped out a window of her house over the weekend, Fox News reported.

The Columbia County Sheriff's Office said that Caitlyn Frisina erased the data on her phone, which she left behind, before making a getaway with 27-year-old Rian Rodriguez, the head coach of the boys' soccer team at Fort White High School.

Authorities noted that Caitlyn Frisina was last seen on Saturday and that she allegedly withdrew $200 from an ATM in St. Marys, Georgia, on Sunday.

The pair were spotted at gas stations in Georgia and South Carolina, as well as at a pawn shop in North Carolina and are believed to be making their way up the Interstate 95 corridor, possibly towards the Northeastern United States, Action News Jax reported.

Rodriguez is a longtime family friend who helped Caitlyn Frisina's father, Ward Frisina, secure a coaching job at Fort White High School girls' team, according to Fox News.

They said they cannot understand why their daughter had run away.

"We don't understand. We don't know why this was the course of action," Ward Frisina said, according got Fox News.

Caitlyn Frisina's mother, Scarlet Frisina, said they just wanted to know that their daughter was all right.

"We don't care why she left,' she said, according to People magazine. "We don't care what's happened, we just want to know that she's safe."

Authorities have been unable to make contact with the pair and, although they believe Caitlyn Frisina is no immediate danger, they are expanding their search to efforts to the Northeastern United States, Action News Jax noted.

In a desperate attempt to reach her daughter, Scarlet Frisina took to Facebook to share a heartfelt message.

"We're not sure why you chose to go, but know that all we care about is knowing whether or not you're safe!!" she wrote.

"We can work out any issues. We're here with open arms praying for your safety! Please let us know that you're ok."

Meanwhile Rodriguez has been fired from his coaching position at Fort White High School for not showing up at work, First Coast News reported.

"By not showing up, he's absent without leave and we just felt like the best thing to do at this point was go ahead and terminate him and cut our ties with him," said Columbia County School Board Chairman Keith Hudson at a board meeting Tuesday, according to First Coast News.
