Snoop Dogg's White House Pot Smoking Boast Isn't a First (Video)

By    |   Thursday, 24 July 2014 09:00 AM EDT

Snoop Dogg is only the latest celebrity to claim he smoked pot at the White House. Willie Nelson says he did. And actor David Cross says he used cocaine there.

MTV reported that Snoop was paling around with Jimmy Kimmel on his new web series "GGN: The Double G News Network," when the late night host asked him point blank if he'd ever smoked in the White House. While puffing on what appeared to be a joint, Snoop replied, "In the bathroom."

Snoop and his family last visited the White House for the 36th Annual Kennedy Center Awards in December of 2013, where he donned a tuxedo and hob-knobbed with celebrities like Tony Bennett and John Kerry. His tale was not entirely dissimilar from Nelson's, who claimed to have smoked weed on the roof of the White House during the Carter administration.

During his visit to the White House, Snoop felt a hankering for a smoke, so he turned to the Secret Service agents.

"I said, 'May I use the bathroom for a second?' And they said, 'What are you going to do? No. 1 or No. 2?' I said, 'No. 2.'"

"Who said this? The first lady?" Kimmel joked.

"So I said, 'Look, when I do the No. 2, I usually, you know, have a cigarette or I light something to get the aroma right.' They said, 'You know what? You can light a piece of napkin.' I said, 'I'll do that.' And the napkin was this," said Snoop, pointing at his marijuana blunt.

"This is some story!" said Kimmel.

In addition to Willie Nelson's claim, The Huffington Post pointed out that Cross claims he did cocaine under the table at the White House Correspondents' Dinner in 2009, saying he was "maybe 40 feet from the president of the United States!" when he did it.

Despite Snoop and Nelson's claims there's a good chance that they weren't even close to being the first to smoke marijuana in a presidential residence. The Washington Post noted that Presidents Washington and Jefferson both grew hemp.
