An Illinois shoplifter has been arrested after snapping a selfie in her stolen merchandise, prompting some to label her the "dumbest shoplifter ever."
Danielle Saxton, 27, was arrested July 11 for theft under $500 after allegedly lifting a neon, leopard-print dress from Morties Boutique in West Frankfort, Illinois,
CBS affiliate KFVS reported Thursday.
"What she stole was a very distinct leopard dress," store co-owner Kert Williams
explained to ABC affiliate WSIL.

"We posted a picture — not a picture — just words saying 'If anyone sees a leopard color dress, let us know about it, come tell us, call us, text us,"' he said. Someone in the store's network ran across such a dress, and tipped off the owners of the store.
"I got a message saying, 'Is this the dress you’re talking about?' Well, yep that’s it! There is only one neon leopard print dress that we have," he said.
When they arrested Saxton, police found that she also had an outstanding warrant for her arrest, as well as two T-shirts, sunglasses, and a necklace from the boutique — all thought to be stolen.
Williams says this is not the first time they've used social media to catch a dumb criminal, and suspects it unfortunately won't be the last.
He said the boutique had cameras installed just six months ago, and the footage might help convict Saxton. He said that in the half a year the cameras have been in operation, they've already helped catch three other female shoplifters, in some instances after they posted the footage online and asked community members to help them identify the thieves.
After booking, Saxton was released from jail on her own recognizance.
