Shannen Doherty has been a steady presence in Americans' living rooms since she appeared regularly on the last season of "Little House on the Prairie" when she was 11 years old in 1983.

She went on to direct, write, and produce, but she's perhaps best known for her acting roles in "Heathers," "Beverly Hills, 90210," and "Charmed."

And she's still active on the Hollywood scene today. Doherty's latest film, "Bethany," was released earlier this year; she doubled as star and producer on the project.

Here are five quick facts you might not know about Shannen Doherty:

1. She’s a breast cancer survivor — Doherty has been struggling with her health since 1999 when she was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. At the time, she famously told Star magazine: “There’s nothing sexy about women saying: 'I’ve got to go to the bathroom right now.'"

In March 2015, People magazine reported that she’d been diagnosed with breast cancer.

The star has been incredibly candid about her battle with cancer, sharing much of her journey with her fans online via social media.

Doherty shared the news that she was in remission in May after finishing her last round of chemotherapy in February, the Los Angeles Times reported.

She went back to work in August, jumping into the upcoming "Heathers" reboot.

2. Doherty was just 11 when she got her big break — Although the 46-year-old actress had already appeared in "Voyagers!" and "Father Murphy," her big break came when she landed the role of Jenny Wilder in "Little House On The Prairie."

According to Biography.com, the show’s producer Michael Landon spotted her in "Father Murphy." Her role as Drusilla Shannon earned her a Young Artist Award nomination, and Landon was so impressed he offered her the role of Jenny Wilder.

3. She got a bad rap as a young actress — During her time on "Beverly Hills, 90210," Doherty developed a bit of a bad reputation.

She became notorious for her altercations with her co-stars. One of them, Tori Spelling, reportedly remembered having to break up a fistfight between Doherty and Jennie Garth once. According to Fox News, Spelling spilled all those details and more in her 2008 autobiography "sTORI TELLING."

"A night with [Shannen] meant going to the hottest club and drinking until the early hours. I knew she was a 'bad influence,' but I liked her anyway," Spelling wrote.

4. Doherty recently ended her feud with ‘Charmed’ co-star Alyssa Milano — Alyssa Milano told E! Online in June that she and Doherty had reconnected.

There was plenty of friction between the actresses when they worked together on "Charmed," and some have speculated that it’s the reason Doherty left the show.

But the two have recently been chatting over Twitter and decided it was time to bury the hatchet.

"I think we're just at ages now that what happens 15 years ago, or however long ago that was, it's irrelevant," Milano told E!'s "Daily Pop."

5. She’s an animal rights activist — Doherty is well known for her animal activism. She’s an avid supporter of the Sea Shephard Conservation, and she even challenged the organization's founder, Captain Paul Watson, to do the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

She regularly campaigns for animal welfare organizations and her Instagram timeline is filled with images of shelter dogs looking for their forever homes.
