The sex noises of a nearby couple humorously interrupted a Sarasota Open tennis match between Frances Tiafoe and Mitchell Krueger on Tuesday night.
The broadcaster of the match initially thought the noises were coming from a video on someone in the audience’s phone, but as the noises continued for a few more minutes, he finally deduced they were coming from a nearby apartment across the river.
Tiafoe initially stopped playing when he heard the couple, looked in the direction of the noises with wide eyes and grinning before resuming play. As the noises continued, he shouted at one point, “It can’t be that good!” which made the crowd laugh.
Play-by-play announcer Mike Cation said in disbelief, “I can still hear it. It’s still going.” He later tweeted the following:
Krueger lobbed a ball in the direction of the sounds, but if it found its mark, it did not deter the couple in the least.
On the video, a mother can be seen telling her son to put his hands over his ears, which he obediently does.
Once the players resigned themselves to the sounds, Tiafoe took the match 6-3, 6-2 over Krueger, Deadspin reported.
Twitter, of course, had a field day with the sex noise interruption, and the players couldn’t help commenting on it themselves.
