Scratch-and-sniff stamps will be issued by the U.S. Postal Service for the first time this summer, the agency announced Monday.
The scratch-and-sniff forever stamps will feature 10 different images of two ice pops on a stick, but the single scent all stamps have will have won’t be unveiled until June 20 when the stamps are issued, Postal Service public relations representative Mark Saunders said, USA Today reported.
“In recent years, frozen treats containing fresh fruit such as kiwi, watermelon, blueberries, oranges and strawberries have become more common. In addition, flavors such as chocolate, root beer, and cola are also popular,” a USPS news release said.
Whatever the scent ends up being, the Postal Service intends it to invoke the “the sweet scent of summer.”
Margaret Berg of Santa Monica, California, created the stamps’ artwork.
Twitter was generally positive about the scratch-and-sniff stamps.
