Sarah Palin Gets the ‘Hollywood’ Treatment

News flash: Sarah Palin harbored ambitions early on.

The former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice-presidential nominee gets the star tell-all treatment in E’s latest “True Hollywood Story” episode. The one-hour program premiered Thursday night.

Former colleagues reminisce about her early days on the city council in her hometown of Wasilla, Alaska. They recount how she supported infrastructure improvements but was opposed to what she labeled “fun and fancy” projects such as building a new library.

And while Palin was originally asked to run because she seemed to appeal to a big Wasilla demographic, she soon started to think bigger.

“I remember sitting in a council meeting and saying, ‘Sarah, you sound like you’re running for mayor’ and she said, ‘What makes you think that?’” said Nic Carney, a former councilman.

Palin, who may make her own White House bid in 2012, might want to think about the kind of media attention she’s getting these days, says Salon.com.

“Although it's not news that Palin's as much a celebrity as a politician, when your perceived rival for votes and media attention is getting increasingly serious coverage in the New York Times while yours increasingly comes from an entertainment network that offers near-constant coverage of the Kardashian sisters and assorted Playboy bunnies, electoral momentum is not on your side,” Norreen Malone writes on the site.
