Sandra Bullock Bringing 'Miss Congeniality' to TV, Says Celeb Site

Academy Award-winning actress Sandra Bullock is reportedly trying to bring her "Miss Congeniality" character to the small screen. 

A source told RadarOnline.com the series could be described as "Bridesmaids" meet "24."

"Sandra loved her 'Miss Congeniality' FBI agent character Gracie Hart and the concept so much that for years she has continued to keep up friendships with FBI agents she met while researching it," the source reportedly said. "Sandra just feels like it's time to bring this story to a new generation."

Bullock played her FBI agent/undercover beauty queen contestant character Gracie Hart twice on the big screen. Bullock's original "Miss Congeniality" comedy hit theaters in 2000 and co-starred Benjamin Bratt, William Shatner and Michael Caine. The movie made $106.8 million domestically and $105.9 million overseas. Bullock's "Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous," which came out in 2005, made $48.4 million domestically and $52.2 in the foreign market, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com.

The source told RadarOnline.com that Bullock is interested in finding the ideal actress to play her FBI character.

Bullock has worked on the production side before, as an executive producer for "The George Lopez Show," which ran from 2002 to 2007. She even appeared in three episodes.

Bullock was nominated this year for a Best Actress Academy Award for "Gravity," in which she starred alongside George Clooney. She won a Best Actress Oscar and a Golden Globe in 2010 for her portrayal of Leigh Ann Tuohy in "The Blind Side." "Gravity" and "The Blind Side" were both nominated for best movie Academy Awards as well.

Bullock also played an FBI agent alongside fellow Oscar-nominated actress Melissa McCarthy in 2013 hit "The Heat." The movie raked in $159.5 million domestically and another $70.3 million overseas, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com. 

Bullock first became a fan favorite starring alongside Keanu Reeves in the action thriller "Speed" in 1994.

"Everyone told me not to do 'Speed,'" Bullock told the Virginian-Pilot, per People magazine. "I mean, it looked like I'd be just 'the girl,' (but) I've learned to do things by instinct."
