Sandra Bullock, still riding high from last year's critically-acclaimed movie "Gravity," is the highest paid actress in Hollywood, according to Forbes annual survey of the top Tinseltown moneymakers.

Bullock made $51 million over Forbes latest 12-month reporting period, aided by the success of the space adventure, which earned the actress her second Oscar nomination earlier this year. She won the best actress Academy Award in 2010 for "The Blind Side."

Last month, Robert Downey Jr., star of Marvel's iconic "Iron Man" film franchise, was ranked by Forbes as Hollywood's highest paid actor. Former professional wrestler turned actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson came in second

"Movies based on original ideas, as opposed to comic books or young adult novels, are rare these days in Hollywood," wrote Forbes' Dorothy Pomerantz. "Movies based on original ideas that cost $100 million to produce and feature one actress for the majority of the screen time are even rarer but director Alfonso Cuaron and Warner Bros. had a huge hit with 'Gravity.'

"Much of that success can be chalked up to Sandra Bullock's gripping performance as Ryan Stone. Not only did the film win seven Oscars but it also helped Bullock become this year's highest-paid actress," Pomerantz continued.

Jennifer Lawrence, another Oscar-winner, came in second on the Forbes survey, making $34 million, cashing in on "The Hunger Games" franchise and her Oscar-nominated performance in "American Hustle." She also stars in one of the big superhero hits this year "X-Men: Days of Future Past."

"Jennifer Lawrence earned less than $1 million upfront for the first movie," wrote Forbes. "Now she's in a position to demand top dollar for future 'Hunger Games' movies as well as a share of the backend. … Lawrence ranked 12th overall on our Celebrity 100 list which measures a mix of earnings and fame."

The Forbes list also included Jennifer Aniston at No. 3 with $31 million, leveraged by her "Friends" syndication income and endorsements; followed by No. 4 Gwyneth Paltrow ($19 million), Angelina Jolie ($18 million), Cameron Diaz ($18 million), Scarlett Johansson ($17 million), Amy Adams ($13 million), Natalie Portman ($13 million) and Kristen Stewart ($12 million).

Jolie topped the list in 2013 at $33 million, followed by Lawrence's $26 million, Stewart at $22 million, Aniston at $20 million and Emma Stone, who did not make the 2014 list, at $16 million.
