Sabrina A. Davis is accused of stabbing a friend with a fork in a fight over the last rib at a Memorial Day weekend family outing in Muncie, Indiana.
Muncie Police charged Davis with criminal recklessness in the incident and she was in the Delaware County Jail on Tuesday under a $5,000 bond,
according to the Muncie Star Press.
Davis was a guest at the gathering but the homeowner became upset because she was eating so much food, according to an affidavit obtained by the Star Press. The backbreaker came when Davis was accused of taking the last rib from the meat pan.
The homeowner's daughter, according to the affidavit, confronted Davis "about taking all the food," which led to a fight in which Davis is accused of stabbing the woman in the left eye with a fork she was using "to take meat from a pan," reported the Star Press.
Muncie Police officer Amy Kesler said in the affidavit that the victim had "at least two small lacerations on her left eyelid," and her eye was "swollen and bloodshot."
Davis, though, told authorities that she acted in self-defense, charging that the alleged victim was brandishing a knife during the argument.
"Davis states she stabbed (the victim) in the eye so she wouldn't stab her with the knife,” a police report stated,
according to WXIN-TV.
Some of the gathering's attendees and neighbors called the incident "embarrassing" and something that got completely out of the control, the television station reported.
"It was just so ridiculous. … Barbecue's good and all that, but it's not worth sticking somebody in the eye with a fork, you know?" said one neighbor.
Social media had a humorous take on the incident.
