Ryan Raburn's botched throw during the Cleveland Indians' game against Kansas City Thursday could go down as one of the worst errors in Major League Baseball this year.
The play came in the bottom of the eighth inning with the game tied at 0. The Royals' Mike Moustakas hit a ball down the left field line, which outfielder Raburn ran a long way to try to get. The ball then bounced off the heel of his glove and rolled next to the stands.
As Moustakas reached second base, Raburn unleashed a throw that resembled something akin to a spike. The ball bounced into centerfield, allowing Moustakas to make it all away around to home plate, scoring the game's first run. Raburn's Indians would go on to lose to the Royals 2-1 in 14 innings.

"If it was a game where we were way ahead, we'd have had a good laugh about it,"
Raburn said after the contest, according to The Associated Press. "With the way the game was playing out I don't think anybody was more mad than I was."
Raburn said he saw that Moustakas had ready reached second and that his teammates were preparing for a throw to third, leaving him trying to change where he wanted to throw the ball at the last minute.
"It was a freak play," Raburn told the AP. "I was trying to hold up. I saw our infielders going toward third, and I tried to hold up. I couldn't and, of course, the ball rolls halfway to centerfield."
Raburn's throw almost immediately made ESPN SportsCenter's "Not Top 10" plays of the day.
Others on social media could not help but pile on the Indians outfielder.
