A Ruth’s Chris Steak House Facebook promotion backfired after Michigan’s epic win over Rutgers.

With the University of Michigan playing Rutgers over the weekend, the local steakhouse created a very appealing promotion. The local Ann Arbor Ruth’s Chris Steak House said it would offer a discount from Sunday following the game to the next Thursday matching the point spread if Michigan beat Rutgers, according to USA Today.

While it might have seemed like a great idea in the beginning, it quickly backfired on them after Michigan annihilated Rutgers by a score of 78 to 0, USA Today noted.

Based on the restaurants promotion, the win meant that they owed people a 78 percent discount on their food for the next five days. That unfortunate reality caused the restaurant to quickly instill some fine print, so to speak.

The steakhouse clarified that they would cap off the discount at 50 percent, and exclude alcohol from the offer, SB Nation noted.

Michigan’s win over Rutgers on Saturday marked the largest margin of victory for a college football team since University of Chicago’s 85-0 victory in 1939, according to Fox News.

The change made in the offer will save the restaurant nearly 30 percent for each person who uses the promotion, which might not have people all that happy, but will surely keep the restaurant from going bankrupt in less than 7 days at the hands of a single college football game.
