Rush Limbaugh's widow, Kathryn Limbaugh, has revealed details about the conservative talk radio legend's private funeral. Rush died at age 70 on Feb. 17 after a brief battle with lung cancer and was laid to rest on Feb. 24 in St. Louis, Missouri. Kathryn painted a picture of the intimate ceremony during an appearance Tuesday on her late husband's talk show.

"The sun was shining brightly at the Missouri funeral home, not like the icy snow a week before," she told guest host Todd Herman, according to Fox News.

Kathryn recalled how, when Rush was still alive, they would refer to his passing as "the event" to make light of the situation. They had been planning the memorial service for a year and Kathryn said Rush would laugh at the coming event. When the time came, it was a "stunning" ceremony.

"Rush was just shy of a president in my view," Kathryn continued. "There will be pictures of the horse-drawn carriage with us following behind. We had a short ceremony in their chapel to his favorite song. We then went down to the burial site. We prayed around Rush and played some of his favorite music. It was absolutely stunning with a beautiful oak tree over Rush with the sun shining down on him."

Looking ahead, Kathryn said she would continue with the Rush Revere books and audio series.

"To keep the movement alive, just think of what Rush would say and do," she explained. "I have his wedding ring and a cross on a chain around my neck, keeping him with me every day, every moment. Rush didn’t know after which EIB Show he would follow God’s plan to return to Heaven. He went peacefully. Yes, he was greeted by many when he arrived back home."

Last month Kathryn shared details of Rush's final days during a guest slot on her husband's show. She explained that, in the days leading up to his death, he managed to find comfort in Elton John's "Your Song," which had fond memories attached to it for the couple.

"I played that for Rush in his final days," Kathryn said, People reported. "And he was able to listen to that song and we remembered our wedding and Elton John."

John performed at their wedding.
