NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will be deposed in the Colin Kaepernick collusion case and asked to turn over all cellphone records and emails relating to the case, a source has told ESPN.

The NFL bigwig joins others expected to give depositions, including Dallas' Jerry Jones, New England's Robert Kraft, Houston's Bob McNair, Seattle's Paul Allen and San Francisco's Jed York.

The filing claims that the NLF owners "colluded to deprive Mr. Kaepernick of employment rights in retaliation for Mr. Kaepernick's leadership and advocacy for equality and social justice and his bringing awareness to peculiar institutions still undermining racial equality in the United States," Bleach Report noted.

Kaepernick became the center of attention last season after he took a knee during the national anthem before games as a form of protest against social injustice, sparking a national movement throughout the league.

The 30-year-old, who cut ties with the 49ers earlier this year, has battled to find work since.

Goodell has dismissed Kaepernick's claims, stating earlier this year per The New York Post that "if a football team feels that Colin Kaepernick, or any other player, is going to improve that team, they're going to do it."

However, the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback remains unsigned despite the fact that several other starting quarterbacks have sustained injuries, Yahoo Sports noted.

This includes Houston rookie starter Deshaun Watson, who tore an ACL has been ruled out for the season.

Meanwhile, Golden State Warriors head coach, Steve Kerr, recently sided with Kaepernick on the matter, insisting that the quarterback was definitely being blackballed.

"All you have to do is read the transactions every day, when you see the quarterbacks who are being hired," said Kerr, according to Bleach Report.

"He's way better than any of them," he continued, stating that "the NFL is more conservative, and I think a lot of NFL fans are truly angry at Kaepernick, and I think owners are worried what it's going to do to business."
