By    |   Wednesday, 23 April 2014 05:15 PM EDT

“Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts told David Letterman on Tuesday that she is healthier and happier than ever during an appearance on “The Late Show” to promote her newly released memoir “Everybody’s Got Something.”

"I can look at your right now and say I am healthier and happier than I've ever been," she said. "That's all the matters.”

In her memoir, Roberts writes about her childhood, career, and health struggles, which include a 2007 diagnosis of breast cancer and a 2012 diagnosis of myelodysplastic syndrome, a side effect of cancer treatment that required a bone marrow transplant.

"You think you’re the only one," Roberts said of life's obstacles during Tuesday’s “The Late Show” appearance. "And my momma would say, 'Honey, everybody's got something.' Everybody's got something, not just a challenge, but something to give to help you get through that challenge."

Doctors who diagnosed her myelodysplastic syndrome in 2012 told Roberts she had two years to live if she didn’t get a bone marrow transplant, according to People.

Her book details her struggles and the support she got from loved ones, including her girlfriend of nine years, Amber Laign.

Roberts shared her gratitude for support of her book on Twitter.

Fans on the social media site were already enjoying the memoir.
