Rihanna left Lollapalooza Colombia without a headlining act after the singer reportedly pulled out of September's two-day musical festival because of concerns over the Zika virus, reported Us Weekly.

La Tercera, a Colombian news outlet, reported that Rihanna, 28, recently dropped out of the festival scheduled in Bogata Sept. 17-18. Even though Rihanna is reportedly giving organizers nearly a two-month heads up, promoters said it was not enough time to find a replacement, forcing them to cancel to the event, according to Us Weekly.

Lana Del Rey, Wiz Khalifa, Disclosure and The Chainsmokers were some of the bevy of acts scheduled to perform at Lollapalooza Colombia.

"The organizers wish to express their deep appreciation to all the fans who supposed the festival since day one, as well as the sponsors and the media partners," according to a statement in Spanish on the festival website. "We hope to return in the future to realize this first edition of Lollapalooza in the country."

Variety said Rihanna hasn't publicly canceled her scheduled appearance so far and the singer's representatives didn't respond to their questions Sunday.

Zika virus can be spread through Aedes species mosquitos, through sex with an infected man, and from a pregnant woman to her fetus, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The CDC said the virus's infection during pregnancy can cause a serious birth defect called microcephaly, as well as other severe fetal brain defects.

Time magazine reported in April that Colombia has reported the second highest number of Zika cases in South American, behind Brazil, and its cases of microcephaly are predicted to grow in the following months.

Variety said Lollapalooza started in Chicago and this year's event there is scheduled July 28-31 at the city's Grant Park.

Chile held the its own Lollapalooza festival in 2011 and others have been held in Argentina, Brazil, and Germany, noted Variety.
