RG3 Arby's Parking Spot Unreserved at Redskins Request

An Arby’s restaurant across the street from the Washington Redskins’ new training-camp facility in Virginia has removed a reserved parking spot sign for quarterback Robert Griffin III, aka RG3, at the team's request.

The preferred parking space at Richmond fast food location had been installed without informing the Redskins or the team’s star quarterback. The RG3 Arby's parking spot had been set aside on the chance that Robert Griffin III would stop by for a burger, NBC Sports reported.

Arby’s franchise owner Dean Kovanes told the Washington Post he removed the sign after he was contacted by a Redskins rep and politely asked to do so. Kovanes had been responsible for installing the sign four days earlier.

Saying the team rep "couldn’t have been more polite," Kovanes said he wasn’t seeking publicity from the stunt and did not expect it to garner attention beyond his parking lot.

The sign was tweeted out last Thursday by Redskins’ fan Mark Farmer and the image was picked up by news outlets.

The 23-year-old Redskin’s quarterback currently has endorsement deals with Adidas, Gatorade, EA Sports, Nissan, and Subway among others. As a result of his endorsement deals in addition to his contract with the Redskins, RG3 has "earned more than any other rookie in NFL history before throwing his first regular-season pass," ESPN notes.

Having won the 2011 Heisman Trophy, RG3 was selected by the Redskins as the second pick of the 2012 NFL Draft and went on to win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

Born to two U.S. Army sergeants in Okinawa, Japan, RG3 is known as being a devout Christian on the field, often blessing himself after a big play.

Aside from the gridiron, RG3 is scheduled to marry his fiancée, Rebecca Liddicoat, on July 6, the Post reported.

Late last year, RG3 was criticized by ESPN pundit Rob Parker for being a "cornball brother," which loosely translates into him not being black enough, considering he "has a white fiancée [and] people always talk about how he's Republican," Parker said.
Parker was subsequently suspended by ESPN.
